What I want from Santa’s elves

Share

For the December Genealogy Blog Party, we are to share our Christmas wish list.Genealogy Blog Party Badge

What would I like from Genea-Santa this year?

It’s hard to choose. So many things come to mind. But I think I know.

I’d like Santa to send someone who will sort, label, scan, and preserve all the family photographs I haven’t gotten to yet…and there are plenty of them. Below are two photos of my closet. All of the boxes and the accordion folder have photos in them.

And there are more that aren’t even in my closet!

Dear Genea-Santa,

Please send your elves to process these photos for me. I’ve been a good girl this year…mostly.

Love,

 Nancy

Wow – I should have thought of this! When the elf is done at your house, can you send her/him to mine? Thanks 🙂

I think just our little group could keep the elf busy all year!

Your box of “unknown photos” is bigger than mine. So if the elf shows up at my place, I’ll give him or her your address. Happy scanning and happy holidays!

My goal in 2015 was to process and scan all 10,000 items in my collection. I wish I had Santa’s elf to do it for me, but it got done and, boy, was I happy when it was finished. I hope your elf shows up!

The elf, or other designated Santa-person would have to be related, wouldn’t he/she, in order to recognize the folks in the photographs. I’d love to see his/her DNA profile hehe.

Wow! Now that’s a lot of stuff. I hope they send you a couple of elves to help you out. Happy holidays!

Thanks, Andrea. I am hoping to convince my daughter to be my elf-helper. 😉

My goal for 2010 was something very similar. Like Linda, around 10,000 items. Yes it got done. Leaving docs at the solicitors for scanning. Dumping a foot-high stack of papers at a rural facility for digitizing. Meep-beep-meeping my way through a few old letters and photos. Saving the lot onto Dropbox and Google Drive. Trying to find email addresses of cousins to share it with. Santa, if you’re listening, that was the hard part…

I have taken documents to a local place for digitizing. It went well, and I may do that again. Email address of cousins…yes that IS a challenge!
