Why I’ve been quiet the past few weeks

Share

I’ve been quiet the past few weeks, since right before Hurricane Florence began dropping buckets of rain on North and South Carolina.

The aftermath of the storm at my house consists of several downed trees (none hitting any buildings), groundwater flooding into the basement, a power outage of less than a day, and a fried hot water heater from a power surge.

This is nothing compared to the many people across both Carolinas who lost everything except their lives, but it did cause some disruptions of daily life here for the past few weeks.

The biggest challenge is dealing with wet and ruined things in the basement, along with the groundwater that continues to use the basement as part of its domain. The basement was my late husband’s office, shop, and storage.

I am starting to get back into a routine, albeit not the same routine as before the hurricane; and I will post a family history blog post again next week.  Thank you for understanding my time away from blogging.

Praying for you all. We evacuated but were able to return back home due to the hurricane not hitting Mount Pleasant SC as forecasted. So many people are still in need. Please take care and know I’ll be ready to read your blog posts whenever you return.

Thank you, Melissa. My problems post-hurricane are plenty. I can’t imagine what the people closer to the coast are going through. So many lost everything and so many places are still completely flooded. I’ve read that this is worse than Matthew was 2 years ago. I’m glad you weren’t affected by the hurricane. 🙂

I have been praying for you. What you’re dealing with is difficult, I’m so sorry I don’t live closer, we would come over and assist you with clean up. Being from Houston we’re well versed in water clean up. Big Bucket Damp Rid will help at some point. Will continue to pray for you to get that water out of your basement. May the Lord Jesus Christ give you the strength you need to get through this hard time in your life. Big hugs cousin.

Thank you, Suzan, for the prayers. We can surely use them. I didn’t know Damp Rid came in big buckets. We’ll get some. I appreciate you wanting to come help if you were closer. It means a lot to me. 🙂 Hugs back to you.

Thanks, Linda. The basement water is lessening all the time. It will be awhile before I trust putting anything back down there again, though. Today has been sort of normal. I’ll take that!

Thanks, Marian. I am thankful that Michael is fast moving instead of the very slow Florence. I already have a blog post planned for this weekend, and it’s a story I love. 🙂
